1.5 million-year-old clam fossils, with calcite attached to a coquina matrix. A fossil specimen of a Mercenaria permagna clam from the Pliocene Era (about 1.5 - 3 million years old), from Rucks Pit, Florida. The calcite also fluoresces a bluish-white in long-wave UV light (not pictured)
