THIS IS A LIMITED EDITION DECK SET featuring our own Rebecca Guanzon as The Emperor. This deck was a limited edition (1000 decks), we have 10 of them.
Each deck set includes: 78-card tarot deck (with a guide included inside), a printed map, and a hand printed cloth map that can be used as a tarot cloth. This set of 3 items is highly sought after.
Created by Genevieve Barbee-Turner, a tarot illustrator known as Killerpancake Illustration and Sarah, a generational intuitive tarot reader and teacher known as Sora the Intuitive. With our forces combined, we created HAUNTED: An Appalachian Tarot Deck that combines ghost stories and lore from Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio, and West Virginia with a fully illustrated 78 card tarot.
Origin Story
This region (Western Mass, West Virginia, and Eastern Ohio) is a confluence of so many different cultures over thousands of years. Before and during colonialism, multiple tribes including the Haudenosaunee, Lenape, Osage, and Shawnee people lived and moved through here. As this land was overtaken the same a pathways of travel and trade were used by colonists and enslaved people in the expanse westward. The impact of these people and their descendants still remains. Today this region is still a place where people and things gather and disperse—including stories traveling by word of mouth and rumor. The land here is soaked in dark stories and lore.
This deck is a standard 78-card tarot deck following the Rider-Waite format.
Working with Sora the Intuitive, a Pittsburgh tarot reader, Genevieve Barbee-Turner researched a variety of local history, legends, and rumors (old and new). While there are card illustrations inspired by real events and people this is a wholly creative work that aims not for accuracy (it isn't a textbook) but celebrates our ghosts and what they mean about us.
