Spring is associated with cleansing and clearing out for new beginnings. To cope with the changes of the seasons it is also important that energy is circulating well in the body and the mind be grounded.
Join us as we clear out stagnant energy and settle our emotions so we can move forward into 2022 with renewed passion and purpose.
We will start this class with a slow yoga flow to warm up the body and stimulate circulation before we ease into supported Yin Yoga Positions that we hold for 2-5min.
To make it more accessible, this circle is offered at three different price levels. Please consider what you are able to give at this time and choose the one that is right for you.
Kimma Stark Bio
Professional yoga instructior for beginner and experienced yogis.
Teaching both public & private classes since doing my first of many trainings at Frog Lotus Yoga in North Adams in 2009. I have been teaching to individuals and small groups with a focus on alignment suited to the needs of the students present to help them reach goals and stay safe. I teach with a focus on functional movement and mobility vs. circus or contortion work. My body can not do everything and neither can yours and that is perfectly ok! We are here to maintain our health not to look like pretzels.I have been "all in" since I took that first training and my career as a professional teacher has been an international adventure ever since. Before becoming a teacher my personal practice started back in 2000 with Hot Yoga and then moved on to more traditional formats when I discovered that there was more to Yoga than just sweat.
Due to Covid-19 my teaching briefly shifted to online and by request only. I have spent much of 2020 and 2021 in deep contemplation over the current state of Yoga, the realities of being an older teacher with my own body challenges and changes, and a shift in my view of the segment of the Yoga community that does not accept science, the role of privilege, and the realities of very bad actors in our space.
I am still in the process of redefining my business model and searching for what kind of teaching feels authentic to me. I continue to study with top teachers from all over the world whenever I can, however I can. I love sharing the new information I have processed and made part of my practice. I'm proud to be part of the new wave of body-positive, mature teachers who approach Yoga from a more informed, gentle, and supportive point of view.
Class Description:Spring Slow Flow/Yin Yoga: A Return to Practice
“Between Stimulus and Response there is a Space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our Freedom.” — Viktor FranklA gentle practice intended for folx with all levels of experience. We will warm up our bodies with a slow flow of movements with a focus on the breath then transition to a Yin practice where we will hold poses longer to allow time and space to pay attention to the sensations we are experiencing.This practice is intended to be a treat for the body, nourishment for the nervous system, and a boost for the spirit.Please bring your mat and any props (blocks/straps/blankets) you feel will support your practice. Wear layers and be sure to hydrate well before arriving. If you can not comfortably sit on the floor and require a chair for a seated practice, please let us know at the time of booking so we can accommodate. All are welcome.
This is a deep and active rest practice perfect for students of all levels, abilities, and needs. I have worked with a wide range of students and have no problem making adjustments as needed to support the individuals you come. athletes and those who are inclined towards a more dynamic practice, those who are pregnant, or working with injuries.
The class is limited to 8 to allow for personal attention and adjustments.
